In any professional relationship a large measure of trust is crucial between the advisor and the client. The expert advisor provides customized advice and guidance and the client commits to the course of action being recommended. Oftentimes however, there is a 'gap' of understanding between what the client truly understands and what they should know prior to embarking on a course of action.
Vested Wealth clients are provided continual education towards a more complete comprehension about the specifics of the counsel they are given and a more general understanding of the 'bigger picture' surrounding their circumstances. The goal is to create an 'informed client', who we feel is best suited to making optimal decisions. Achieving clarity is not only understanding what is happening but also why the particular path being recommended is more suited to the client than another course(s).
From the advisors viewpoint, accountability is a nuanced concept. On the one hand, advisors need to have clients trust their expertise and follow their advice in a committed fashion. On the other hand, a client who 'blindly' follows advice is a problem waiting to happen. When events don't unfold as expected in the short term, a client's lack of clarity about the course of action can lead to disappointment and misunderstanding.
